The opening and closing element of a stop valve (also known as a globe valve) is a plug-shaped disc, with a flat or conical sealing surface. The disc moves in a straight line along the center line of the valve seat. It is also called a throttle valve and belongs to the forced-sealing type of valves. When the valve is closed, pressure must be applied to the disc to force the sealing surface to achieve zero leakage. Since the opening or closing stroke of the valve stem of this type of valve is relatively short, and it has extremely reliable shut-off performance, and the change of the valve seat's flow opening is in direct proportional to the stroke of the disc, this type of valve is very suitable for flow regulation scenarios.
