The metal ring gasket is made through forging, heat treatment and mechanical processing. It is a metal sealing gasket used in oil and gas pipe flanges, pressure vessels, high-speed joint surfaces, high-temperature and high-pressure valve covers, etc. Especially in situations with fluctuating pressure and temperature, it can still maintain good sealing performance.
The commonly used R-type gaskets are classified by cross-section as elliptical or octagonal. The standard R-type ring-shaped gaskets are manufactured according to API 6A and ASME B16.20 standards and have a maximum working pressure of 10,000 PSI. In trapezoidal groove flanges, the octagonal gaskets and elliptical gaskets can be interchanged. The RX-type octagonal gaskets are suitable for standard R-type ring-shaped gaskets with enhanced pressure and are suitable for flange groove sealing surfaces like R-type. The BX-type octagonal gaskets are suitable for pressure-enhanced systems with a design pressure up to 15,000 PSI. There are various materials and forms suitable for different design and operation requirements. Refer to the material characteristics table.
Note: The hardness of the octagonal gasket material should be lower than the flange surface by 15-20 HB, and it is recommended not to reuse.
