Chengxin Valve Co.,Ltd
The American Standard Cast Iron Flanged Foot Valve is a one-way check valve designed to ASME/ANSI standards (primarily ASME B16.1 for flanges, Class 125/150 pressure ratings). The body is typically made of grey cast iron (ASTM A126 Class B) or ductile iron, with flanged ends. It is installed at the bottom of a pump’s suction line (submerged) to prevent reverse flow of liquid back into the source when the pump stops, while also providing a straining function to block large debris and protect the pump.
Operating Principle:
When the pump starts, fluid pressure opens the disc (or poppet), allowing liquid to enter the pipeline. When the pump stops, the weight of the liquid column and residual pressure quickly close the disc, preventing backflow. This “inlet-only” function reduces water hammer and energy loss.
Key Features:
Flanged connection conforming to ASME/ANSI B16.1 Class 125 (or 150) for reliable installation.
Equipped with a strainer screen (usually stainless steel) with a large flow area (typically 3–4 times the pipe area) to minimize clogging.
Center-guided or spring-assisted disc design for smooth, quiet, non-slam closure and reduced water hammer.
Metal-to-metal seats (bronze) or soft seats (NBR/EPDM) available.
Simple, durable construction with easy maintenance; suitable for water, oil, and other non-corrosive media.
Typical Specifications:
Nominal Size: 2" to 18" (DN50 to DN450)
Pressure Rating: Class 125 / 150 (approx. 1.0–1.6 MPa, up to 200 PSI)
Operating Temperature: Generally -10°C to 150°C (or up to 300°F, depending on materials and seals)
Suitable Media: Water, oil, etc.
Connection: Flanged (ASME B16.1)
Body Material: Cast Iron (A126-B)
Screen: Stainless Steel 304, etc.
Widely used in municipal water supply, agricultural irrigation, industrial circulating water, fire protection, and drainage pump suction systems.
